  • Ruptured Hamstring
  • Torn Hamstring
The hamstring consists of three large muscles in the back of the thigh. A person with a hamstring rupture has torn one or more of the muscles that make up the hamstring. Images

A hamstring rupture is caused by a force that overloads the muscles in the back of the thigh: the muscle fibers tear, which results in swelling and pain.
