• Blood in the stools that can only be detected through testing (stool guaiac)
• Upper abdominal tenderness
• Signs of anemia
• Rapid pulse
• Paleness

Tests are necessary to confirm the diagnosis of gastric cancer.

Tests that may be used to evaluate gastric carcinoma include:

• Complete blood count
• Liver profile
• Kidney profile
• Coagulation profile
• Stool guaiac tests for intestinal bleeding
• Upper GI series:
• A barium x-ray study of the stomach and upper intestines
• Upper GI endoscopy:
• Allows direct inspection of the stomach and duodenum
• Gastric tissue biopsy
• Abdominal x-rays
• Chest x-ray
