Home care for a fungal nail infection includes:

  • Avoid exposure to chemicals.
  • Avoid using nail polish.
  • Wear breathable gloves.
  • Avoid using rubber gloves.
  • Wear absorbent socks.
    • Change your socks frequently.
  • Wear breathable shoes.
  • Take prescribed medications as directed:
    • Don't skip doses of your medication. This makes them less effective.
    • Be aware of the common side effects that may be caused by your medication.

Notify your doctor if you have a fungal nail infection and any of the following:

  • Skin redness and tenderness around a nail
