Finger Dislocation Underlying Cause
Each finger contains three bones. At each joint, the bones are held together by ligaments, which maintain the alignment of the bones. When an injury tears the ligaments around the joint, the bones may separate, resulting in abnormal alignment. Participation in sports is the most common cause of finger dislocation.

Additional causes of finger dislocation include:
  • Altercations
  • Falls
  • Industrial accidents
