Notify your doctor if you are an adult with a fever and any of the following:

Fever over 102.9 degrees F (39.4 C)
Fever over 101.9 degrees F (38.8 C) in an adult over 65 years old
Fever that lasts longer than 3 days
Fever and you have an intravenous line
Fever and a weakened immune system:

Cancer
Chronic lung disease
Cystic fibrosis
Infection with HIV
Kidney dialysis patient

Confusion
Difficulty breathing
Neck pain
Neck stiffness
Repeated vomiting
Seizure
Skin redness and pain
Skin swelling
Worsening abdominal pain
Worsening abdominal pain in one area of the abdomen
Worsening back pain
Worsening cough
Worsening diarrhea
Worsening headache
Worsening rash
Worsening sore throat

Sickle cell anemia
Taking daily corticosteroids

Continue to Fever in Adults Underlying Cause
