Fascitis Plantar Anatomy
To better understand plantar fasciitis, it helps to understand the anatomy of the foot.
The plantar fascia is a very strong, thick band under the skin on the bottom of the foot. It is attached to the heel bone and fans forward, attaching to the bases of the toes.
This structure acts as a bowstring to support the arch, which is formed by the bones in the foot.
