The evaluation of an elbow sprain is usually based on a history and physical examination. Images

Physical findings in someone with an elbow sprain may include:
  • Limited range of motion in the elbow
  • Elbow swelling
  • Tenderness over the elbow:
    • Over the sprained ligaments
