What is retrograde ejaculation?
A male with retrograde ejaculation has a portion of semen that leaks into the bladder during ejaculation. In rare cases, all of the semen is discharged into the bladder. Causes of retrograde ejaculation include scarring from prostate surgery, diabetes, and a medication side effect.
What are the symptoms of retrograde ejaculation?
Symptoms of retrograde ejaculation include sperm in the urine, and a reduced amount of semen discharged from the penis during ejaculation. Retrograde ejaculation has no effect on the ability to have an erection or orgasm.
How does the doctor treat retrograde ejaculation?
Retrograde ejaculation does not require treatment unless it results in infertility. Medications may be used to treat severe retrograde ejaculation.
