What is Ebola hemorrhagic fever?
A person with Ebola hemorrhagic fever has a life threatening infection caused by the Ebola virus. The virus destroys white blood cells and blood vessels. Only four cases of Ebola hemorrhagic fever have been reported in the US. Outbreaks have occurred in parts of Africa. The animal host for Ebola viruses is unknown.

What are the symptoms of Ebola hemorrhagic fever?
Initial symptoms of Ebola hemorrhagic fever include fever chills, headache, muscle aches, and loss of appetite. Symptoms of worsening Ebola hemorrhagic fever include: abdominal pain, black stool, chest pain, confusion, fainting and a rash. The rash may look like bruises or broken blood vessels in the skin.

How does the doctor treat Ebola hemorrhagic fever?
There is no cure for Ebola hemorrhagic fever. Treatment for Ebola hemorrhagic fever may include intravenous fluids, antiviral medications, and blood transfusion.
