Dystrophy Reflex Sympathetic Prevention

Prevention of reflex sympathetic dystrophy includes:

  • Appropriate rest after injuries or surgery:
    • Use a walker.
    • Use crutches.
    • Use a cane.
    • For upper extremity injuries, consider using a sling
  • Vitamin C supplements may reduce the incidence of RSD following wrist fractures.
  • Appropriate rehabilitation after injuries or surgery:
    • Physical therapy for reflex sympathetic dystrophy
    • Occupational therapy for reflex sympathetic dystrophy
