The evaluation of dumping syndrome begins with a history and physical examination.

Physical examination is usually normal.

Laboratory tests are often needed to exclude other illnesses that cause symptoms similar to dumping syndrome.

Tests that may be used to evaluate dumping syndrome include:

• Complete blood count
• Renal profile
• Blood glucose testing
• Serum albumin
• Upper GI series
• Upper GI endoscopy
