What is dumping syndrome?
A person with dumping syndrome has symptoms that occur when the stomach empties its contents into the small intestine too quickly. Dumping syndrome may occur after bariatric surgery, such as gastric bypass, used to treat obesity. The surgical removal of a diseased portion of the intestine, as is the case with Crohn's disease and pancreatic cancer, may also trigger dumping syndrome. Images

Common symptoms of dumping syndrome include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal discomfort after eating. Severe cases may cause weight loss.
