What is Dubin Johnson syndrome?
A person with Dubin Johnson syndrome has a rare inherited disorder that causes the buildup of bilirubin in the liver, resulting in episodes of mild jaundice. Bilirubin is one of the by-products that result from the breakdown of hemoglobin, which carries oxygen in the bloodstream. The episodes of jaundice are temporary and treatment is not required.
