Prevention of drug side effects includes:
  • Do not crush or split tablets.
  • Make sure your doctor is aware of all medications you take.
    • Ask your doctor to review your medications once a year.
  • Take your medications as directed.
  • Discard outdated medicine.
  • Ask your doctor about drug interactions.
  • Tell your doctor if you are:
  • Read drug labels before you take nonprescription medication:
    • The medication may not be safe to take with your prescription medication.
  • Store medication in the original container.
  • Keep medications away from heat, light and moisture.
  • Keep medications away from children.
  • Never take someone else's prescription medicine.
