A person with a dental fracture has a broken tooth. Dental fractures involve the deeper portion of the tooth, known as the dentin. Fractures that disrupt the dentin are at risk for infection.

Dental fractures that bleed disrupt the tooth pulp, which can reduce the blood supply to the tooth and results in loss of the tooth. Images
