A person with Dengue fever has a viral infection that is transmitted to humans by mosquitoes. Images

Most Dengue infections cause flu-like symptoms that resolve over 7 days. However, in some cases the infection causes inflammation of small blood vessels, which can result in serious bleeding. Dengue is most dangerous in children, who are at the highest risk of developing severe illness.
