Deep Venous Thrombosis Prevention
Prevention of deep venous thrombosis includes:
  • Regular exercise program
  • Avoid sitting for prolonged periods.
    • Get up from your desk every couple of hours to stretch your legs.
  • Ask your doctor if you should take an aspirin every day.
    • Your doctor can help you determine if you are at high risk for DVT.
  • If you are flying for more than 3 hours, you may take aspirin under the direction of your doctor:
    • Take 100 mg of aspirin per day, starting 2-3 days prior to travel and continue through day of flight.
    • Resume aspirin 2 days before departure and continue through day of arrival.
