Cryptococcal Pneumonia Symptoms
The symptoms of cryptococcal infection depend on the location of the infection.
Symptoms of cryptococcal infection of the lung include:
- Chest pain:
- Less commonly may cause bloody cough
- Chest congestion
- Breathing difficulty
Symptoms of cryptococcal meningitis or encephalitis include:
- Neck pain
- Neck stiffness
- Blurred vision
- Sensitivity to bright light
- Difficulty walking
- Irritable behavior
- Loss of consciousness
Skin lesions are present in less than 10% of patients with cryptococcal infection. The presence of skin lesions generally indicates a widespread infection.
