Home care for croup includes:
  • Place a vaporizer or nebulizer in the bedroom at night.
    • Exposure to a steamy bathroom or cool outside air may reduce the cough.
  • Sleep in the same room with your child so that you can monitor breathing.
  • Encourage drinking plenty of fluids.
  • Avoid exposure to secondary smoke.
  • Take prescribed medications as directed.
  • Acetaminophen for fever Images
  • Ibuprofen for fever Images
  • Avoid decongestant medications in infants.
