Craniopharyngioma can cause symptoms by placing pressure against parts of the brain, and by altering the amount of hormones produced by the pituitary gland.

The most common symptoms of a craniopharyngioma include:

• Headache:
• Slowly worsening episodes
• Pain may be worse in the morning
• Pain may increase during coughing
• Symptoms that may accompany the headache:
• Nausea
• Vomiting

Additional symptoms of craniopharyngioma may include:

• Abnormal growth:
• Small stature
• Gigantism
• Visual disturbance:
• Double vision
• Blurred vision
• Weight gain

Symptoms of worsening craniopharyngioma may include:

• Change in vision
• Confusion
• Dizziness
• Difficulty speaking
• Difficulty walking
• Hearing loss
• Memory loss
• Numbness in one arm or leg:
• Arm numbness (unilateral)
• Leg numbness (unilateral)
• Arm and leg numbness (unilateral)
• Weakness in one arm or leg:
• Arm weakness (unilateral)
• Leg weakness (unilateral)
• Arm and leg weakness (unilateral)

Less common symptoms of craniopharyngioma include:

• Seizures
• Personality changes
• Unusual behavior
