Coral Sting Treatment
Treatment for a coral cut focuses on removing pieces of coral from the wound, in order to prevent infection. Careful wound cleansing and rinsing is important. Wounds that sting may contain small amounts of toxin. Additional wound rinsing with vinegar may help neutralize the toxin. Severe cuts, or cuts that contain parts of coral, require care in an emergency room or urgent care center. Most coral cuts heal within 2 weeks, but healing takes much longer if the wound becomes infected.
