What is a concussion?
A concussion is a type of brain injury that causes a temporary disturbance in brain function. Most concussions are the result of a direct blow to the head with a blunt object. What are the symptoms of a concussion?
A concussion can cause headaches, loss of consciousness, loss of memory, confusion, changes in mood, slurred speech, sleep difficulties, nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light and loud noises.

How does the doctor treat a concussion?
Treatment for a concussion includes cold compresses, close observation, medications to control nausea, and acetaminophen or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications for pain.
