Clavicle Fracture Evaluation
Evaluation of a clavicle fracture begins with a history and physical examination. Images

Physical findings in a person with a clavicle fracture include:
  • Tenderness to palpation (touch) at the site Images
  • Bony crepitation (a crunching sensation) when you press over the fracture site
  • Swelling over the clavicle
  • Pain with motion of the shoulder joint
    • Raising the arm causes pain
Most clavicle fractures occur in the middle of the clavicle in children, and closer to the shoulder in adults.
