People with chronic bronchitis have a chronic cough:
  • The cough lasts for more than 3 months out of the year.
  • The cough has been present for at least 2 years.

The symptoms of chronic bronchitis vary greatly with the extent of the lung damage. In most cases, symptoms wax and wane. In severe cases, symptoms may always be present. Symptoms are commonly triggered by activities, allergies, or environmental factors.
