A chondroblastoma is a rare type of benign bone tumor. This tumor develops from cartilage cells that cover the bones of various joints. Images

Chondroblastomas are most common in teenagers.

Benign tumors are abnormal growths of cells that have formed a mass. Benign tumors are not cancerous because they do not spread to other areas of the body. Chondroblastomas may interfere with joint function.
