Cholesterol Elevated Underlying Cause
Severe cases of high cholesterol may be inherited.
Additional causes of high cholesterol include:
- Diet high in fat
- Kidney disease
- Liver disease
Cholesterol can cause narrowing of the arteries that supply blood to the organs. This process is known as atherosclerosis, which is the major cause of heart disease and stroke.
