A person with cholangitis has inflammation of the common bile duct, caused by a bacterial infection. Images

The common bile duct drains bile from the gallbladder, and enzymes from the pancreas, into the small intestine. Inflammation of the duct can cause obstruction of the bile duct.

Common symptoms include jaundice, abdominal pain and fever. Images
