Chemical Peritonitis Underlying Cause
Peritonitis is caused by a bacterial infection. The bacteria may originate from the bloodstream, or from infected organs inside the abdomen. The bacteria spread to the peritoneum and start to grow, which results in inflammation and severe pain.
