A person with chemical conjunctivitis has inflammation of the conjunctiva caused by exposure to a chemical. Risk factors for chemical conjunctivitis include occupational exposures in areas such as agriculture, construction, and manufacturing. 
What are the symptoms of chemical conjunctivitis?
Common symptoms of chemical conjunctivitis include eye pain, eye redness and eye swelling.
How does the doctor treat chemical conjunctivitis?
Treatment of mild chemical conjunctivitis includes continuous and prolonged eye irrigation with tap water or eyewash solution. Antibiotic eyedrops and artificial tears are often prescribed.
