Physical findings in someone with cervical spondylosis may include:

• Mild neck pain
• Neck stiffness
• Decreased range of motion in the neck
• Neck muscle tenderness

Physical findings in someone with serious cervical spondylosis include:

• Loss of reflexes
• Numbness in the legs or arms
• Weakness in the legs or arms

Testing is necessary to evaluate those with severe pain, or persistent numbness or weakness.

Tests that may be used to evaluate cervical spondylosis include:

• X-rays of the cervical spine
• CT scan of the cervical spine
• MRI scan
• Thyroid scan
