A person with cervical lymphadenitis has inflammation of the lymph nodes in the neck, usually caused by an infection.

Lymph nodes produce white blood cells that fight infection. Symptoms include swollen and tender nodes in the neck. Cervical lymphadenitis commonly occurs during infections of the mouth or throat.
