Celiac Disease Symptoms
Symptoms of celiac sprue in infants and children may include:
- Abdominal swelling
- Abnormal appearing stool
- Diarrhea
- Fussiness in infants
- Loss of appetite
- Slow growth
- Unintentional weight loss
- Stool incontinence
For unknown reasons, the symptoms of sprue usually decrease during adolescence.
Symptoms of celiac sprue in adults usually include:
- Abdominal pain:
- Abdominal tenderness:
- Right lower abdominal tenderness
- Left lower abdominal tenderness
- Right upper abdominal tenderness
- Left upper abdominal tenderness
- Upper abdominal tenderness
- Lower abdominal tenderness
- Abdominal swelling
- Indigestion
- Bone pain
- Diarrhea
- Abnormal appearing stool:
- Stool may float in the toilet
- Stool may be fatty or oily
- Fatigue
- Oral lesion:
- Muscle aches
- Muscle cramps
- Rash
- Tingling in the legs and feet
- Pale skin
- Unintentional weight loss
