Cancer Oral Overview

Another name for Cancer Oral is Mouth Cancer.

What is mouth cancer?
A person with mouth cancer has abnormal cells in the lining of the mouth that multiply out of control. These cells can form tumors and spread to other parts of the body. Although the cause of mouth cancer is unknown, smoking greatly increases the risk of mouth cancer. The chance for a cure is very good if the cancer is detected before it spreads outside the mouth.

What are the symptoms of mouth cancer?
Symptoms of mouth cancer may include mouth or tongue lesions, white patches on the inside surface of the mouth, a lump inside the mouth, and mouth ulcers.

How does the doctor treat mouth cancer?
The treatment for mouth cancer includes surgery and radiation therapy.
