What are burns?
A person with burns has an injury to the skin caused by exposure to excessive heat. Burns may also be caused by exposure to chemicals, electricity, or radiation. Burns are classified as first, second or third degree. One of the most common burns is sunburn. Images

What are the symptoms of burns?
Symptoms depend on the severity of the burn. Common symptoms include skin pain, redness, and swelling. Deeper burns may cause blisters to form. The most severe burns cause charring of the skin.

How does the doctor treat burns?
Treatment for burns may include wound care, burn cream, narcotic pain medications, and skin grafts.
