Burkitt Lymphoma Underlying Cause
The exact cause for Burkitt lymphoma is unknown, but genetics is thought to play a role in determining susceptibility to cancer. Some researchers have found evidence linking Burkitt's lymphoma to Epstein-Barr virus.
Genes control the functions inside a cell. Special genes control how cells divide and grow. Cancer occurs when the damaged genes stimulate the cell to multiply out of control. The exact cause for this damage is unknown.
