Buerger's Disease Stop Smoking
Stop smoking measures for someone with Buerger's disease:
- Avoid alcohol, caffeine, or other stimulants as much as possible.
- Avoid bars and other locations where people are smoking.
- Chew sugarless gum when you want sweets.
- Drink 6 to 8 glasses of water a day.
- Follow an exercise plan developed with your doctor.
- Get family members and close friends involved, as they can be a source of motivation.
- Make sure you have a well balanced diet with control of total calories. It may be helpful to eat at different times or on a different schedule.
- Participate in a smoking cessation program.
- Set personal goals and reward yourself in some way other than smoking.
- Use any prescribed medications for anxiety or depression as directed.
- Use nicotine patches or gum as directed by your doctor.
