Brucellosis Definition

  • Brucellosis
A person with brucellosis has an infection that is caused by the Brucella bacteria. Brucellosis can affect almost any organ system in the body. Brucellosis causes symptoms similar to influenza.

Brucella bacteria are carried by domestic animals. Because of animal screening and vaccination programs, there are only about 100 cases of brucellosis reported each year in the US.
