Symptoms of a toe fracture include toe pain, swelling, bruising, or deformity. Additional symptoms include a subungual hematoma or a toenail injury.
How does the doctor treat a toe fracture?
Treatment for a toe fracture includes rest, cold compresses, elevation, a splint, protective shoe, and crutches. Occasionally, surgery may be required to repair a severe fracture of the first toe.
