The diagnosis of breast cancer in males is usually made at a later stage, than in females. This results in a worse outcome for men with breast cancer.

The outlook of breast cancer in males depends on a number of factors:

• Cancer stage
• Estrogen receptor status (positive or negative)
• HER/neu status
• Cancer cell type
• Number of lymph nodes that are involved
• General health of the individual
