Breast Abscess Underlying Cause
A breast abscess may start to form when the skin of the breast is damaged. Once the skin is damaged, the tissue beneath the skin becomes infected by bacteria that are present on the skin surface. An abscess forms when the tissue becomes inflamed and the body forms a wall around the infection.
