Primary bone cancer arises directly from the bone cells. These tumors are quite rare, representing less than 1% of all cancers. Multiple myeloma is the most common form of primary bone cancer.

There are several other, even less common types of primary bone cancer:

• Chondrosarcoma:
• Cancer of the cartilage of large bones
• Affect the very young and old.
• Ewing's sarcoma:
• Cancer of the connective tissue around larger bones.
• Affects children, teens, and those in their early twenties
• Fibrosarcoma:
• Cancer of the fibrous tissue of the bone, nerves, and the tissues around muscles.
• Osteosarcoma:
• Cancer of the cells of the bone.
• Mainly occurs in the leg bones of teens and young adults
