Bone Cancer Treatment: Bone Marrow Transplant
During bone marrow transplantation, a sample of bone marrow cells are taken from the patient's body, and the cells are saved. Then, the patient is treated with high-dose of chemotherapy. The chemotherapy is very effective at killing the cancer cells, but the chemotherapy also destroys the bone marrow. After chemotherapy, the saved bone marrow cells are returned to the bone marrow, in order to restore normal bone marrow function.Bone marrow transplant complications: Continue to Bone Cancer Treatment: Specialist
