What is bone cancer?
A person with bone cancer has a collection of abnormal cells in the bone that multiply out of control. These cancer cells can form tumors and spread to other parts of the body. Primary bone cancer arises directly from the bone cells. Primary bone cancer is quite rare, representing less than 1% of all bone cancers. In most cases, bone cancer has spread to bone from another organ that is cancerous. Some leading examples include prostate cancer, breast cancer, and lung cancer.
