Bleeding Conjunctiva Underlying Cause
A subconjunctival hemorrhage is caused by direct injury to the blood vessels inside the conjunctiva (eye injury), or by increased pressure that causes the blood vessels in the conjunctiva to rupture. Many with a subconjunctival hemorrhage cannot recall a specific event that triggered the bleeding.
