What is beriberi?
A person with beriberi has a deficiency of vitamin B1, or thiamin. Beriberi mainly affects the heart and nervous system. There are two forms of this condition: wet beriberi and dry beriberi. Wet beriberi causes heart failure. Dry beriberi causes damage to nerves (neuropathy). Images

Symptoms of beriberi include fatigue, moodiness, depression, inability to concentrate, constipation, nausea, and abdominal pain.
