Debridement is the removal of dead tissue. Enzymatic debridement agents are chemicals that break down dead skin.
Enzymatic debridement agents:
- Collagenase (Santyl)
- Fibrinolysin-deoxyribonuclease (Elase)
- Papain (Panafil)
- Sutilains (Travase)
- Trypsin (Granulex)
Whirlpool baths also help remove dead tissue.
