What is poor balance?
A person with poor balance may have poor equilibrium or vertigo, which is a spinning sensation. Some neurological illnesses, such as stroke, may cause poor balance or clumsiness. Poor balance may be a sign of drug toxicity or a drug side effect. The doctor must determine exactly what a patient means when they complain of poor balance, in order to determine possible causes.

What are the symptoms of poor balance?
Symptoms that may occur with poor balance include vertigo, nausea, vomiting, difficulty walking, dysequilibrium, one-sided muscle weakness, falling to one side, and clumsiness.

How does the doctor treat poor balance?
Treatment for poor balance depends on the underlying cause. Treatment may include bed rest, avoiding sudden changes in position, and medication.
