Astrocytoma Types
Astrocytomas may be grouped according to location:
Infratentorial tumors:
Located in the lower, back one-third of the brain.
Supratentorial tumors:
Arise within the front two-thirds of the brain. This is the most common location for astrocytomas in adults.
The most serious type of astrocytoma is a
glioblastoma multiforme
(GBM).
