Ankle Sprain Symptoms

Symptoms of a minor ankle sprain include:

Mild ankle pain

Pain is worse during running or jumping
Pain rapidly improves

Mild ankle bruising
Mild ankle tenderness over the ligaments
Mild ankle swelling (unilateral)

Symptoms of a serious ankle sprain include:

Severe ankle pain

Inability to walk
