What are amputations?
A person with an amputation has lost a part of the body, due to injury or surgery. The most common causes of injury include power tools and kitchen utensils. The most common type of traumatic amputation is a fingertip amputation. Surgical amputations may be performed in those who have life threatening limb infections or crush injuries.

What are the symptoms of amputations?
Symptoms of an amputation include loss of tissue, lacerations, pain, and bleeding.

How does the doctor treat amputations?
In most cases, the amputated portion of the body is surgically re-attached.
